EBT: How To
Eligibility:

- Must be a resident of the state of California
- For full-time students for receive aid or are not currently employed: You are eligible!

The Application Process
- The Website: benefitscal.org
- You can check on your application status at any time by logging onto this website, this will also help you track how much money you have left each month once you’re approved for calfresh
- Scroll down:
- Click on “Apply for Benefits”
- Fill out Questionnaire: Couple of things to have ready
- Create an account to save work progress!
- Documents:
- Proof of identity: Drivers License, State ID Card, Student ID)
- Proof of Income: recent pay stubs, unemployment benefits
- Proof of Expenses: medical costs, child care
- You should see the screenshot above, have these information points available and ready at hand
- As you click “next” continue following the prompts on screen until you reach the end
- You should reach this page:
- Fill out “Your Information”: fill out as much as you’re comfortable with, including “required” portions for all 9 portions of this questionnaire
- Don’t worry if you’re not entirely sure about any of the questions, once you’re paired up with an social worker, they will be able to answers many more questions and help you through to getting the papers you need for approval
Application Review
- Once you click “Review and Submit”, you’re done!
- From here on out, the county has 30 days to process your information, interview you, and request any final papers they need
- Be on a lookout for any emails, phone calls, or text messages that might be a social worker getting assigned to your case
- Interview:
- The interview should be a straight-forward process really just making sure that all the information looks right and is ready to go
- Give your information as-is and the county will do its best to provide you with the necessary options/resources for you to obtain these benefits
